My room is supposed to be £77 - £82 a week and now theyre saying its £100 a week!!! I cant afford this at all as it takes up my WHOLE loan without any left for living expenses or anything else. I cant even get a job because they wont employ you unless youre willing to work up until 23rd december and i want to go home.

My dad also paid 2 months ahead for me which is what the uni demanded as you all know, now theyre saying that 2 months is paying for next year - April and May! So now my loan for this term has to cover 3 more months which takes everything I have!!

I'm so upset, my mom and dad have offered to help and i know they will but they really cant afford this and my dad has admitted he dunno what he can do now Crying or Very sad

I might have to leave uni and go again next year closer to home.... Crying or Very sad

I HATE THEM!!! Isnt it fucking hard enough to be a student without forcing people to leave cos the stupid loans dont match the rent for the shitty little flats they give out?!!?!?

Hayley I think you should contact a lawyer, if you don't already have one. It sounds like you are being ripped off big time.

Sounds to me like they are funking you about and cheating you go see someone from the uni about it coz you obviously wasn't told all this before and they have to explain it all by law to you, so they are the ones in trouble.

like people said, you've got a legal case her because you are contracted to that certain amount you originally had and now theyre demanding more

That is real bad - never had trouble like that with my uni.

But my housemate who's dad owns the place is demanding for some bills, etc and apparently her dad said she can buy books with it! So basically i'm paying for my housemate to have her own f***ing books when i still need to get my own Evil or Very Mad

But seriously this is out and i hope it gets sorted soon because it's an outrage because they can't do that without properly notification and you were told one price for living, they can only legally keep it to that

dont think you have much of a legal case, depending on what the contract says ... IMO Crying or Very sad

i got the kent prospectus for next year ... none of the prices are above 100 i dont think Crying or Very sad

how bout looking at alternative accom ... noticed canterbury had 5 or 6 different types, or getting some outside of the uni with some other peeps?

which could be difficult seeing as youv only been there a while Crying or Very sad

100 sounds somewhat OTT. The building i'm in was only finished like 2 weeks before i moved in and my rent was 74, this year it's 71 (same building, bills included in rent etc).
I don't foresee much of a legal case unless your tenancy contract specifies a price in it..

Good bout the second bit - how i don't get how they change the rate all of a sudden - i don't even live on campus now and the rates for my place and my previous place were well under 100 a month - still sucks, but glad to hear of improvements
